Capstone Project
**************************************************
What does our Capstone project entail?
Part of the Global Studies dual - diploma program is to create a year long research "Capstone Project" during your senior year. My topic has to do with medical and healthcare access, medical bias/biases and different treatment of people. When the process is completed this coming May I will have three products: the first being a research paper, the second a Pulse Oximeter replica made out of clay and the third a schoolwide survey/ questionnaire.

Pulse Oximeter ~ Ceramic Replica
Artist statement:
My second product is a Pulse Oximeter replica made out of clay. I wanted to create something tangible and realistic. I started by researching reference images and then creating a few sketches and a plan of action. This is connected to my research paper (product 1) because the pulse oximeter was a racially-biased medical tool.

Medical Bias Survey
Artist statement:
My third product is a community-wide survey gathering data and stories from both the adults/ faculty members and upper-school students at Watkinson School. Below, I have the infographic I created with the results of the survey using Canva. I had a total of 60 participants (30 adults/faculty and 30 upper-schoolers). This product correlates to my encompassing theme of healthcare and medical biases because it is real-world examples and statistics of people's knowledge of medical biases and accounts of whether they have experienced them.
